2025 CPD Proposed Budget
The City of Chicago recently released an overview of their proposed 2025 budget, including details of proposed spending for the Chicago Police Department.
As part of their responsibilities, the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability is tasked with reviewing CPD’s proposed budget. Before the City Council votes on the annual City budget, the Commission must review and may recommend changes to the proposed Police Department budget appropriation. The CCPSA’s Report on the Proposed Chicago Police Department Budget for 2025 can be found here.
Along with the 17th, 20th, and 24th District Councils, we hosted budget expert Geoffrey Cubbage from the Better Government Association to dive into the details of the proposed spending for CPD in 2025. A snapshot of their report can be found here, and the slides presented during our meeting on November 7th 2024 can be found below. A recording of that meeting can be found here (passcode: Mw8.7X#4).
